iMP Update

Well, I’ve been doing the E-Diary thing this past week, but there is no sign of getting the iMP client. I’ve told them when and what we watch on TV, each day, and they’ve given me absolutely no indication as to when or if they’re going to let me actually use this application at all.

So I took the initiative and went googling for a download link. And I found one! Unfortunately, you need a username and password to use the program, which I don’t yet have. Typically. So I sent an email off to the Gfx team (the company doing the research) asking them what the heck was going on.

Once I’ve got up and running with this application, I’ll post some screenies and say what I think about it.

Selected for iMP Trial

After applying to be part of the BBC’s Media Player. The Application is now closed, and I managed to be one of the 5,000 people involved in it!

I got an email earlier on today which told me this…

We are delighted to inform you that you have been selected to participate in the Integrated Media Player (iMP) trial. The Integrated Media player offers you the chance to catch up on TV and radio programmes you may have missed for up to 7 days after they have been broadcast, using the internet to legally download programmes to your computer.

Sounds pretty promising!

As part of this trial you will be required to take part in our research programme. During the next 3 months, while you test the iMP we will ask you to fill in a diary for one week during each month.

I then got a link to a survey which took about 30 minutes to complete, in which I had to detail every single detail of TV watching that goes on in this house each week. I also heartily represented the house’s feeling that ITV 1 & 2 are total bullcrap. I’m most pleased about that.

Providing that I don’t have to sign a contract stopping me from talking about it, I shall put some updates here about how it goes! Should be fun!
